About me…

From a young age, I have always been deeply fascinated by the intricacies of the human mind. This passion naturally drew people to me, as they sensed my genuine desire to help and understand them. My journey in psychology spans over six years of dedicated study and exploration, and yet I feel I am just at the beginning. I am committed to being a lifelong learner, always eager to expand my knowledge and skills. I believe that each interaction is an opportunity for mutual growth, and I look forward to learning from you as much as you will from me. Together, we can explore, understand, and heal.

Today, I am a licensed specialist wellness counsellor launching my own practice in the field of mental health and counselling. So far, I have earned cum laude in all my undergraduate and post-graduate degrees at Stellenbosch University. I also earned my first Masters in Psychology in on the topic of “Adolescent Experiences of Having a Sibling on the Autism Spectrum”. My Approach

I believe in your innate ability to grow and heal. Therefore, I follow a person-centered approach in my sessions. A person-centered approach in counselling is characterized by several key principles:

  • Unconditional Positive Regard: The counsellor maintains a non-judgmental and accepting attitude towards the client, fostering an environment where the client feels safe to explore their feelings and experiences without fear of criticism.
  • Empathy: The counsellor strives to understand the client’s experiences from their perspective. Empathy involves actively listening to the client, reflecting their feelings, and demonstrating a genuine understanding of their emotions.
  • Collaboration: The counsellor and client work together to set goals and explore strategies for personal growth and resolution of issues. The counsellor respects the client’s pace and readiness for change.

Overall, a person-centered approach in counselling prioritizes the client’s subjective experience, fostering a therapeutic relationship built on empathy, acceptance, and mutual trust.
